Why?

Digital transformation of the club’s IT to meet their “smart stadium” ambition.

The solution

As a long-standing partner to Kent Cricket, Fluidity is well positioned in terms of knowledge and reputation to ensure the club’s technology needs are met. This understanding, allows the club’s leadership team to concentrate on delivering success both on the field and in the community. Kent Cricket has a desire to embrace the digital transformation and a ‘smart stadium’ to enhance the entire fan experience.

To lead, it was agreed to introduce a virtual chief technical officer (VCTO) who would report directly to the leadership team. The VCTO will ensure milestones are met within the necessary timescales and will work with key stakeholders to direct on IT, data, and security-related matters in line with understanding the cricket clubs overarching business objectives.

The VCTO understands the organisations strategic objectives and align the IT provision, ensuring value for money and minimising risks at all levels. Taking full responsibility for the clubs technical architecture, the VCTO has delivered increases in the clubs network technology and supported the clubs post covid opening. Fluidity has increased the internet capacity to support live online streaming of matches as well as introducing a cloud first approach to internal IT provision. This adaptation has allowed staff the flexibility to work from anywhere, which was vitally important during the pandemic.

Fluidity presented a detailed proposal and scope of works to carry out the network improvements, increasing the stadium bandwidth, and upgrading the existing network infrastructure and wireless coverage under budget and on specification. With the networks new capabilities, the club and VCTO will pursue moving fully into the cloud.

“As Kent Cricket strives to raise standards both on and off the field, I feel that we have found a very good ‘fit’ with Fluidity. Fluidity is an exciting and dynamic IT company that has a growing portfolio of partners, and we both share similar views in valuing innovation and having aspirations to become leaders in both our fields. We look forward to continuing our established partnership with Toby and David at Fluidity to embrace digital transformation and a ‘smart stadium’ to enhance the entire fan experience”.
